Spring Court Restaurant

This is gonna be a short post on a dinner we had at Spring Court Restaurant. The restaurant itself has a great deal of history and story behind it. If you have caught the production Great World (大世界) by Raintree Pictures last year in 2011, this is the exact same restaurant where the wedding was held on the night where the Japanese started dropping bombs on the country. In the olden days, Spring Court Restaurant was known to everyone as Wing Choon Yuen, which specializes in preparing Chinese food for family, friends and business partners. To date, it is Singapore's oldest family-run restaurant.

The fan ti zi for Wing Choon Yuen embossed on the napkin.

The restaurant is now located in the heart of Chinatown and they have done pretty extensive renovations. My aunt booked a suite whereby it can hold two tables in the room and there is also karaoke services in the room although you are only allowed to sing till 1030pm.

 My uncle's new Nikon compact.

Cold dish

An entire HUGE suckling pig!

The skin of the crackled suckling pig is just major YUMS for me. I LOVE IT! I know it looks quite sadistic in this picture that we're eating off the body of a pig, but it's so good it's hard to resist :/

Popiah!

Fish! If I'm not wrong, this was the garoupa. I'm not sure bout the dishes since I wasn't the one who ordered them and there wasn't any menu lying around the room as well.

Chicken!

This is actually the meat of the suckling pig being stir fried with black pepper sauce and served much later.

Garlic prawns which were really VERY GARLICKY. J helped me to shell the prawns and his hands just smelt of garlic for the whole night.

Some cake to end off the night (:

Generally, you can't go wrong with the chinese food you order here. Everything tasted good and they were very flavourful especially when eaten with RICE! I love rice. Best for family outings!
