Spent the last weekend claiming the victory for F1 zone challange and proceeding to lug all my barangs onto trains and buses and walking a good distance to get to Gallery Hotel. Darryl very nicely booked a room for his gf and invited us to stayover with them, definitely scoring brownie points in the boyfriend department. Anyways, it was an interesting boutique-ish hotel which I have been wanting to check out but never knew the entrance to that place, or rather, didn't bother to find out where.

The glass of the bathroom was semi-translucent so cais got slightly paranoid about it.
The hotel had a very complicated lift system. We had to get into 3 different lifts just to get from the carpark to the hotel room.
Dinner was at Pierside, a restaurant under The Marmalade Group. It is located at One Fullerton where we had a spectacular view of the fireworks happening that day as it coincided with one of National Day rehearsals. Price range is on the pricey side ranging from $20-$40+ for mains and $10-$20 for appetizers. They also have wine and cocktails on their menu which makes it a great place to chill and relax post-dinner by the bay. Not to forget that they also include vegetarian options.
I believe they update their menu seasonally as this menu was different from the one I viewed online. On the pdf version, there was a 'Twice Cooked Confit of Berkshire Kurobuta Pork Belly with Red Wine Mustard & Charcutiere Sauce' and 'Vanilla Poached Maine Lobster with Orzo and Mascarpone, Proscuitto and Asparagus'. Don't they just sound YUM! Lobster with all that Jazz and at a mere price of $32. I was sad to not see it on the menu...
Instead, I opted for the Braised Lamb Shank with Tomato and Curry Leaf Chutney Oriental Spices. The curry wasn't too overwhelming and the lamb was cooked extra tender and laid on a mountain of mash puree. To give it extra plus points, the asparagus was blanched perfectly although the carrot was on the tougher side.
This was jan's plate of King Prawns which was recommended by one of the staff. I don't recall what's in it but it looks yum (:
Anyway, the staff there were being really personal and fearless regarding their preference on the menu, making it somewhat surprising as it isn't a common sight in most restaurants where waiters who wait on you will literally recommend you Everything on the list.
The well-anticipated fireworks amidst food, people and rows of snapping shutters along the bay.
Desserts at Laurent Bernard Chocolatier
I ordered a warm chocolate cake. Their chocolate comes thick, even in their chocolate drinks. However, the best thing on this plate has got to be the whipped cream in the middle. Omg it is absolutely HEAVENLY. If you're thinking, what in the world, it's just cream.. then you're wrong! It's the lightest and fluffliest cream I've ever tasted.
We went back to the hotel to check out the pool and got stuck and were unable to get out. It was a great place to moon-lounge.
This pool was covered up in transparent glass and was facing directly opposite Studio M. A few months back, I was at Také @ Studio M and saw a couple doing the deed in Gallery Hotel's pool. Talk about being dodgy. Hope the cleaners have cleansed the pool thoroughly.
Birthday Cake surprise back at the hotel room for the birthday girl.
I woke up early to get to work and spent the rest of Sunday with Jesse.
It has been a great weekend. (:
