Bangkok #1

I was in Bangkok a week ago after 2 years of not returning to the city of shopping and eating. We went via a coupon code and it must have been the worst decision made on Earth! If you hadn't already know, every coupon code is a tie-up between the coupon company and an agency, in this case, a travel agency. The coupon company that we purchased the coupon from was fine, our coupons came on time and there was email confirmation on it. It was the travel agency that screwed up. Moral of the story is to always check the reliability and efficiency of the travel agency first before you even make any purchase of any sorts.

Do not ever purchase any coupons from Dynamic Travels.

We booked and paid for our trip more than one month in advance and there was no news or emails to inform us on our travel confirmation. We had to take leave from work to personally go down to the office to ask why and what's our status on the flight. Two weeks before the trip, we were told that we were still on the 'to-be-confirmed' list for the flight back. and that they are sorry and they cannot do anything about it. What the hell? There will be no refunds of any sort because it was a coupon purchase. Does not help that the attitude of the people working there is really bad..

We decided to have some food at Pizza Hut before our flight as the flight was only due to fly at 4pm. This seafood baked rice was one of their lunch specials. Every different day of the week, there is 1 main and 1 side dish that is on 50% offer. Quite worth it to check it out.

We were onboard Myanmar Airlines and I guess it wouldn't have been that bad if the plane wasn't filled with crying babies! Imagine people talking, parents screaming, babies crying, air stewardesses explaining on the safety issues, captain speaking all at the friggin same time.

Our journey to our hotel is a treacherous one as we did not have an airport transfer. So we decided to take the train and lug our luggage all around, open luggages for checks at every train station we went to. I think we took about 2 hours just to get to the hotel and I was really tired after that. Really happy when we got to our hotel room.

This is our room. We think that it is one of their studio apartments. Looks rather posh eh? We even have a full-size fridge and a microwave oven! I like the fact that there was ample space to dump my makeup everywhere on the mirror sill.

Heading out for dinner. Our hotel was a 5min walk from BTS Nana station so it was pretty convenient for us to get around via train.

Dinner was at a nice thai restaurant with a live band outside but we chose to sit inside where there's aircon instead. There was a toy train track in the middle of the restaurant which was quite intriguing.

Love love love green curry.

Alaric decided to release a bird for good luck

Ended up at a bar drinking beer, playing monopoly and had a round of pool.

Visited the Platinum Mall bright and early the next day

The Four-faced Buddha

Jesse's favourite dish at Platinum Mall's Foodcourt

Anyway, Platinum has a new wing! How exciting is that! However, we did not have time to comb through that particular wing. :/

We had a seafood dinner with Jesse's dad that night at Somboon seafood restaurant. You can spot his dad in the photo above.

There was a really long queue but Jesse's dad managed to get us a seat almost immediately because of his connections with the staff. Perks of being a businessman.

Curry Crab. It wasn't spicy at all and there were lots of egg in the dish. Great for someone who prefers non-spicy food. Yummy!

Delicious fried rice

Garlic and Chilli Prawn. YUM!

Apparently, many important Japanese people frequent this restaurant.

We caught a movie, Insidious, at Centrepoint located beside the burnt down Central World. It was a horror film which was pretty lame. Called it a night after having a round of beer at a random street side food stall where they reuse their bottles and we had to clean the rims of the bottles as they are so dirty!
