Scape Flea/ Ajisen

Corinne and I had a booth at Scape's flea a few weeks ago. A month maybe? Objective was to get rid of many useless clothes in my wardrobe. It's quite a sad fact that my wardrobe is bursting with clothes.

Cheapo signs to lure customers (haha)

It was my first time having a flea there. It was like a first-come-first-serve grab your own booth space concept. Thank god I got a booth at a further end of the basement where it was less squeezy with slightly more space for us to display our items. It was crowded and stuffy and there were so many people! I was selling my things at dirt-cheap prices and this lady totally tried to haggle me off. Always happy to have company at the flea (:

This month also marked my first experience at Ajisen. It's not that big a deal but I've never tried their ramen and it's surprisingly not bad! I had the Pork curry ramen and fried chicken on the side with hot green tea. They came as a lunch promotion set for only $11.90. I like the soup base even though it kinda tasted like curry maggie mee's soup base.

J had the Ebi and pork ginger and mapo tofu set for $14.80 and we topped up an additional $1 for a side and a drink.

Ajisen is located at many shopping malls
eg. FEAST@Jurong Point, IMM, Bugis Junction and many more.

Coffee Bean Breakfast

J and I woke up bright and early one morning to have breakfast at Coffee Bean. I had a 1-1 breakfast voucher due to expire on National Day itself and I can't let it go un-used. Anyway, they had quite a varied choice of 8 breakfast sets and are all inclusive of refillable coffee/tea. We had the Eggs Benedicts set and the Brek'O'day set. Prices range from $4.90 to $8 per set, which I thought was pretty worth it as compared to breakfast sets that were going at $20+.

This was the Brek'O'day set which was very similar to your big breakfast sets. There were no bacon on the set though, to cater to all race groups. Overall, I think it was quite a hearty set comprising of scrambled eggs, 2 sausages, toasts and leafy greens that were sprinkled with nuts. I'm not good at telling nuts apart from one another, but I love the nuts that they were using! It's the ones that you always find in ice-cream desserts as well.

Speaking of which, I'm craving for a warm chocolate cake right now.

This was the eggs ben set and the poached egg was drizzled in Hollandaise sauce stacked above a ham and toast. I am a sucker for light and fluffy bread and this was not bad. Their greens were overly soaked though, due to the sauce, leaving them far behind their state of crisp. I am not sure of how GOOD hollandaise sauce tastes like as I've not tasted many but as compared to the one I tasted at Choupinette at Bukit Timah, this was lighter in texture and J seemed to like this better. He thought the one at Choupinette was too over-powering.

Egg could have been more runny but I was fine with it in this state. (:

It was a pretty good deal as we got both sets at around $7.50 since it was a 1-for-1 value. What I like about their sets is also that their coffees and teas come in huge cups. I like the idea of drinking coffee from a wide cup like the ones they have. You have to use both hands to cup it in order to drink it and I just like the idea of doing that as it gives me a very warm and fuzzy feeling.

In addition, their breakfasts are served all-day! Meaning, you don't have to purposely wake up in the morning just to enjoy it. (We had to cos both of us had to go to work) I love the invention of whole-day breakfast sets!

KBox/ JB Thai Massage

A few of us gathered on a Friday night for KBox after suppering at BoonLay Market. This was the kbox deco at Jurong Safra which is located near the BoonLay MRT. They tried to create the very old-school feel with the deco. The room was quite large for the 5 of us and I didn't know that KBox technology now is so advanced. There were buttons for you to push for applause and the karaoake room at Bugis also had strobe light effects. Was quite irritated with the fact that there wasn't a remote control though, we had to keep going back to the buttons on the wall which was quite a hassle.

The kbox experience was expensive that night, $35 per pax maybe - it being a friday night. I think we managed to sing till 4am though, sang till our throats turn sore. haha.

We also went in to JB a few weeks ago for supper and for some night life adventure because Kel complained that Singapore was very boring.

This was our favourite Pontian Mee hangout place. also because that street has lots of random food at night. They used to have a sweet potato porridge restaurant at the end of the street but we found out 2 months ago that it has already closed down! Jesse and I were very sad ):

Kel had friends from Melbourne that stayed in JB so they led us to this massage parlour located pretty near our supper place. It looked very sleazy from the outside, with the red lights and all, but it was actually very nicely decorated inside!

They even had a platform whereby you can view fish swimming below. How posh is that! They also had family packages (haha). We all opted for the full body 60min thai massage. It costed around S$20 which was pretty reasonable in terms of Singapore standard pricing for massage.

This was their sink. I really like the design of it.

Next up is to find the seafood place that everyone has been talking about the next time we go back in. The next time will probably be when J is back from exchange though.. Am jealous that he's living like a king right there now - ordering room service and all. Can't wait till I go to Shanghai in December!

Batam Day 2

That was breakfast the next morning. There wasn't much variety I guess but the porridge was not bad. Im quite the heavy eater for Breakfast. I love my eggs and bacon.

They serve their sunny side-ups in a smiley face. How cute!

We spent the second day mainly doing a tour of Batam. It was quite a packed schedule with many pit-stops. You would think that it was a pretty huge place, but they were actually just driving in circles all the time. The land area was probably as small as within Jurong itself.

A roadside stall selling Keropok that we were told to refrain eating from as they will give us tummyaches.

We went on to visit a home making Kueh Lapis which is a type of layered cake.

This is the tiny space where they make the Kuehs

These are light and flouncy (fluffy and bouncy) (:

Look at my dad pointing at the numbers '9086'. Coincidentally the 4 numbers of our car plate.

The sky was such an azure blue that day, I was basking in great weather.

We had lunch the next day at Restaurant 933. The dishes were definitely much better than the ones that we ordered next door. The chilli crab was too spicy for my liking though.

We were brought to watch a performance later near the restaurants that included dancing, eating glass, peeling a coconut open with bare teeth and jumping through a fire hoop.

These kids are so cute, wearing that ape mask. They also tried to imitate the adults' movements.

Also went on to view a garden filled with many miniature buildings.

Took some really silly photos with fake wooden animals (haha)

This was the go-kart track that was located very near the hotel. You can see the hotel at the background of the picture.

We went to a nearby shopping center and even went for a 1.5 hours massage. The massage this time round was not bad although you could hear old uncles snoring a few metres away from you, very disturbing...

This is our last stop before boarding the ferry back to Singapore. We ordered mee goreng and fried rice to share and were minutes from boarding the ferry. They also had a pretty good deal, giving free bread with kaya with every drink ordered. I was so tired, I slept an entire hour on the ferry.

Guess Batam just wasn't a very exciting place to go to. However, the tid-bits and crackers I brought back were pretty yummy. (:
