Domani

Domani is a restaurant located at the basement of Takashimaya, diagonally opposite of Giordano. It didn't used to be called Domani many years ago when I was here and I remembered they were pretty good with their pastas and fries with 5 different dips. Since then, the restaurant has changed its interior decoration and name even, probably due to a change in management I'm guessing. They still serve pretty similar food though.

Domani serves up pretty good set meals at just $26.90 per set. It comes with a soup/salad/tapas, your choice of pasta and a main. You can top up to get a glass of red or white wine along with your meal.

Having a dinner 'date' on a lazy Sunday before catching Battleship. It was such an awesome movie, packed full with action.

We ordered a set menu and two sides.

Black mussels with cream sauce with fresh dill flavour
$5

I personally didn't think this the least bit palatable, mainly because the sauce is cold. I don't eat mussels but I tried the sauce and expected it to be warm at least. Wouldn't recommend this dish.

For mains, we got the Chicken M&M which is their best seller. A portion of grilled chicken with mushroom and mozzerella sauce

This was extremely flavourful and definitely value for money. A layer of melted cheese over grilled tender chicken. We were quite surprised at how good it was actually.

Melted cheese makes me gooey inside.

For our pasta, we selected the Homemade Tomato Sauce Spaghetti with Salsiccia Italian Sausage. There are various other pasta choices as well including a crabmeat shrimp pasta and carbonara pasta. Decided to go ahead with a tomato-based pasta anyways just for a change of flavour.

The pasta was al dente and the sausages were good. Apart from that, I guess it was like any other tomato based pasta.

I went slightly overboard with the cheese and chili flakes though and made it 10 times tastier! lol

Fish and Chips with Homemade Tartar Sauce
$5

I wanted to order a side dish of their fish and chips, mainly for their homemade tartar sauce. The last time I was there, I remembered going crazy over their tartar sauce for some weird reason. It is extremely tasty to me and is probably so partially because it contained memories of dining there with Nanyang friends during our Nanyang days. Sentimental as such. The fish had a good crispy batter as well.

If you are to dine at Domani, I highly recommend the set meal. The portions of the set meal is slightly smaller but still pretty filling. At $26.90, we managed to save about $10 if we were to order the items ala carte. Apart from that, they do have desserts and a wide variety of pasta options as well. If you're a fan of pasta, definitely check out this restaurant.
