J and I celebrated our 3rd this month. I surprised him by booking a hotel room at Moon Hotel which is located really near Wanderlust and a spa treatment for us on the following Monday. I PLANNED AND PAID FOR THE SURPRISE OK. I am an awesome girlfriend :D
(your turn next year)
The room wasn't very huge but J liked the fact that it was a pretty enclosed space. There weren't windows or anything and the bed was propped up a few inches above ground level. Came with your complimentary toiletries and all that jazz.
The sheets were really comfy and I'm not certain if they're made of some special quality or something. Ended up lazing around and eating famous amos cookies while I painted my nails. Tried to do this particular design that I saw off the Net but it might have failed slightly haha.
If you must know, I tried sewing for the first time too. Ok, I have TRIED sewing things in the past, BUT have never gone past threading the stupid thread into the needle because I never could. So I ended up always giving up. And I have had the luxury of having a grandma who could sew very well using her trusty old sewing machine and a mom who's able to do simple sewing as well so I never ever had to sew anything on my own. So now you know who's been sewing my dance costumes.
I like to think that the reason why I can't sew is because I have never gone for a single class of Home Economics. Sad life of an Art Elective Programme student. But I did try sewing J's shirt cos one of his buttons fell out. I think it turned out not bad! (in denial obviously haha)
I believe the most part of this post is gonna be filled with my photos because of 2 reasons. I loved the dress I was wearing that day and, we didn't had much chances of taking photos together oops.
The shower area had no shower head attached to the wall so you had to hold it whilst taking a shower.
Random fact: I was looking through my photos and especially in my birthday ones, my hyper-extended arms are seriously scary. Looks like it's being disjointed at my elbow if you look carefully.
The corridor looks very simple and minimalistic which is the theme the hotel is trying to go for I guess. There was a complimentary cocktail session at 5pm as well. Not sure if they served drinks but there was light tidbits and snacks presented at the hotel lobby. We skipped it though.
Wanderlust located literally a few steps away from our hotel. We stayed at Wanderlust during Christmas 2010.
Check out my nails! They are supposed to look like inverted pink hearts and there were supposed to be white dots around the heart but I forgot to bring my white nail polish -_- I topped it with a matte nail top coat and it really works! You can't tell from the photos here but the nail polish literally transformed to look matte instead of having that glossy sheen that most cream polishes have.
Some other photos taken with my iphone. I wanted to wear my red scalloped hat to town but I didn't in the end because I did a braided fringe that day as well and thought it looked nice. Was supposed to wear the hat during CNY but it didn't arrive till after CNY. Ohwells!
Impromptu meet up with the girls at Starbucks in town to chit chat over coffee.
We lubch you Chowow! <3
Went to hunt for GNC at ION cos Co had to buy something from there before we parted ways
J read my mind and booked for us a dinner reservation at OChre. YAYYY. I was slightly apprehensive about returning to dine at the restaurant because our first meal there was so orgasmic that Im worried if this meal wasn't as good as the previous, it will tarnish my impression of the place. Yes, I'm weird like that. I worry about such things -_-
BUT THE FOOD WAS GREAT. AS USUAL. :D
My handsome boyfriend in a shirt and leather jacket. AND SHOES! haha.
OChre basically serves Italian favourites and classics with a slight contemporary twist and international influence to their food. They must have use especially fresh ingredients because their food always come out tasting exceptionally good. They also have an open concept kitchen within the restaurant.
We ordered a 4 course set dinner for 1 and topped it up with an additional main. The set dinner came with an appetizer, pasta, main & dessert. $75+ (w/GST $80.25) It was pretty worth it considering a main was about $20 odd to $30 odd. The pasta wasn't exactly a main because the portions were quite small.
For appetizers, we had the Parma Prosciutto Rock Melon & Rocket Salad.
The rock melon was SO SWEET! YUMMM. I think it went very well with the prosciutto because it was slightly salty for me so the combination of them two was a nice pairing.
Look at how nicely marbled it is.
We had the Italian Ham & Porcini Mushroom Cream Sauce Fettuccine for our pasta choice.
The pasta was slightly harder than Al Dente I would say but J likes his pasta like that. Other than that, the consistency of the cream sauce was just nice. Not too thick nor watery. I could lick the whole plate off.
This was not part of the set but Jesse really wanted to try the Lamb Chop in Pizza Crust with Braised Red Cabbage in Red Wind & Green Apple, Potato Cream
$38 ($40.66 w/GST)
It was one of Chef Stefano Arrigoni's Specials. The meat was really tender. Usually we have our lamb well done but the waiter suggested medium / medium well-done so we went ahead with it. It was not too bad as well and the meat wasn't that bloody which was what I was most concerned with. The square cube was the potato cream and it was SO GOOD. It is like potato mixed with loads of butter and loads of cream and left to bake. Mmmm.
I had the Grilled Duck Breast with Puree of Charlotte Potato, Glazed Vegetables and Orange Mustard Jus from the set menu. There were 4 choices of mains and it was quite a good variety consisting of cod, spatchcock and veal rack as well.
The duck went very well with the sauce and puree. I can't say that it was extremely tender, but knowing duck meat, they're usually slightly on the tough side, these are considerably tender for duck meat. There was an even amount of fat in the meat as well and the idea of it gushing around in my mouth with a combination of the puree was just splendid.
For dessert, we had the Classic Tiramisu which came along with the set menu as well.
J commented that our Tiramisu doesn't look like a proper Tiramisu since usually they are prim and proper in shape and presentation. I couldn't be concerned about that actually haha. So long as it tastes good.
The tiramisu had quite a large percentage of alcohol in it which is why there were some fruits on the side to wash down the taste slightly.
It was a really great meal and I was really glad that we ended up dining there. (:
OChre is located on the 11th floor of Orchard Central in case you're curious to try it out.
We ended off the night by catching This Means War at Cathay Cineleisure. It's been quite a while since I last caught a movie there. Really wanna watch The Vow and The Hunger Games! Can't wait. Also did a Lush bath to soak off the night. I received a Lush package from J's brother and his girlfriend for my birthday so I will blog about it soon. Need to go back and find out what's this bath bomb called.
Breakfast at the hotel consisted of cereal and a wide selection of pastries. Had to check out and head for work after that. ):

The second surprise was a spa treatment at Spa Elements Cathay. I paid for a top up to enjoy the private, heated spa pool jacuzzi for 40minutes. The jacuzzi was inclusive of Spa Elements' Signature Dead Sea Rich Mineral Salt Crystal Rose Bath (only available at the Cathay outlet). It was really nice because you can dim the lighting and there was 2 complimentary drinks for us. The private area also consisted of a shower.
The jacuzzi had some cool light effect swirling in the water. Niceee.
We also had a 60minute massage whereby the masseuse managed to force out some of my knots at my shoulders. They tried to make us sign for a package deal with them after the treatment but we didn't want to and somehow, the lady wasn't very nice about it. She seemed slightly pissed about it haha. It was a good spa experience anyway. Not your extravagant outdoor spas but good enough for now.
That's all folks!
Gareth Emery played Concrete Angel TWICE yesterday! TWICE. <3 Another night of partying beckons tonight.
