Jing's Birthday at The Clift

So before the F1 weekend came, before I got shipped off to Mandarin Oriental for a while, we celebrated Jing's Birthday. It was a pot-luck party! I kinda groaned slightly when I knew it was a pot-luck, only because I was so busy and it would mean I would have to find time to cook up something literally. I didn't wanna buy something to bring along as well because everyone else would have been preparing. So I decided to read some menus in between train rides and bus services.

Introducing to you baked eggs with bacon! You need to understand this is the first time I ever tried baking anything myself. Baking a batter from Betty Crocker's DOESN'T count. The recipe is really very easy and precisely why I chose to do this because it required lesser effort I guess? I only had 2 hours to prepare for Jing's birthday including showering, cooking and all.

1. Brown strips of bacon on a frying pan
2. Lay bacon in a cupcake liner
3. Add a little butter on bacon
4. Crack an egg into the cupcake liner
5. Pop into oven at 175 degrees Celsius for 9min
6. Sprinkle cheese on top and let it melt

Voila!

It's actually pretty simple to make these. The only downside being it kinda sticks to the cupcake liner a lot, just like how a cupcake would I suppose. The yolk is kinda yellow as well, probably due to the kind of eggs I was using -_- I mean they probably weren't very A-grade eggs. I bought the cheapest ones that were labelled like GIANT brand eggs.

Funny enough, I was the first to arrive at 630pm sharp haha. I think we sat around for a quite a while till we gave up and started eating first. Here's Jing opening one of the many presents Max got for her from Aussieland.

An owl in a mug from Fredflare! Ultimate cuteness.

Really do not like Sushi. Debby insisted so I ate one. (:

Bonnie baked this chocolate tart and it was SO GOOD! The chocolate was superbly decadent and the crust wasn't very thick. The cream had a nice fluff to it and it wasn't too sweet. YUMMY.

I love this photo!

We sat around for a game of taboo later on and I like how taboo always brings laughter to people haha. (Especially when you have Josh and Ivan playing cos they say the weirdest things) Had to leave early to drive down to MBS for Xw's birthday after that! I have 3 good friends celebrating their birthdays at the same time and every single year, I find myself facing the same problem of trying to make it for all their parties. Glad I can make 2 out of 3? haha.

Robinsons and Mio TV presents PRIMETIME FALL FASHION

Fall has to be my favourite season, not just for its weather but also, for the fashion it brings! I love love love Fall season clothing. They are my absolute favourites. I have been stocking up my room with some fall fashion and beauty pieces.

I love the colors that are often associated with Fall. Maroons, Navy Blue, Taupe. If you are someone who likes her 'Blacks' like me, these colors add great spark of colors to your monotonous wardrobe. I am also in LOVE with KNITTED WEAR. Not practical in Singapore definitely, but if you love it, you'll find an excuse or a way to wear it out! (:

Here are some of my favourites of how to dress for FALL.

I think this galaxy kitty tee for guys is too awesome to be true.

Join in the fun at the launch of fashion retailer Robinsons at Marina Bay Sands! Scoot over to http://www.nuffnang.com.sg/robinsons/ for more details about the party. Robinsons promises to be spectacular in being a grand concept store at MBS The Shoppes so see you there!

Ah Yat Kitchen

J and I went to eat at Ah Yat Kitchen @ Tradehub21 via a coupon voucher thingum. I think they had 75% off their crabs or something so we decided to try out their crabs and order some other dishes to go along with it. Anyways, if you know the name 'tradehub', you are a west-ie. It's located very near Jurong East, on the road between Clementi and JE. They also have a 24 hours McDonalds there and a drive-through Sakae Sushi at Tradehub! How cool is that. Obviously, I don't usually drive in, I normally just drive past it to get to my grandma's place.

Tucked away at a corner and not many people were there that night. Not sure if it's a common occurrence because I always had this impression that Ah Yat was a 6.5 on the scale factor 1 - 10 for seafood.

Crispy baby squid with honey sauce; $12

Baby squids are honestly not one of my favourites but J loves them. I don't dislike the taste of them like I dislike the taste of Broccoli, it's just something that I will not purposely pick out of a menu to order if I had the choice.

Sweet and Sour pork with Pineapples; $12

This was one of the chef's recommendations and it was pretty good, but I like the sweet and sour pork by  the Paradise Group better. I still can't get the softness of the pork out of my head.

Poached Matrimony Vine with Assorted Egg and Egg Yolk; $12

I am currently obsessed with vegetables in superior stock mixed with century eggs and egg yolks. YUMMO! I usually select spinach for the vege but they didn't use spinach in this and I have no idea what's a matrimony vine. Sounds like a complicated vegetable and I'm too lazy to google it. This dish is clearly a win-win because I get to eat what I normally do not eat alot of - vegetables, with the one thing I love the most - EGGS! And the stock. Omg. I always treat them like soup

Chili Crab Alaska King Crab

The original price for this is in the $60-$70 range but we got it at $20. I guess that's like 1/3 the actual price. It was quite worth it because the king crab is friggin huge! Their claws had so much meat in them. J is super experience at shelling crabs I swear. His crab meat always come out as one chunk of meat while mine comes out in scraps.

I wanted mantous for the crab too so we ordered them. I love mantous!

Overall, it was a decent meal and we were so full after that! Took a short stroll to Macs before heading back home. Their food is worth a try. I believe they have many other outlets island-wide as well.

Ah Yat Kitchen is located at

Girls Night Out

After a long hiatus to clubbing, we finally went out to have some fun. I probably still think I'm too old for clubbing, like I get tired after a while and all I wanna do is sit at the bar and drink beer all night long -_- It was quite a night of drama.

1. My Samsung randomly fell on the floor and my lens could no longer retract back into the camera body. I was so sad cos I wanted to take it out and test out its night function ): I'm gonna get it repaired this friday. Remind myself to bring its adaptor along since I have been quite forgetful these few days... Highly unlikely of me.

2. When I got to the club, I can't believe I have forgotten to bring my ID and it was still left at home in my cotton pad box. I kept it there because my mom has this thing about me keeping my important stuff in places hard to find for our part-time maid. Oh well, how typically weird of me.

I was quite annoyed because the bouncers refused to let me in, saying I MIGHT BE BELOW 18. Like hello? Do I seriously look below 18 to you -_-

Okay, looking young is supposed to be a good thing I guess.

The girls!

Powerstation was so boring at first.. The crowd wasn't moving and they were just standing around and looking at people with flashing laser lights doing their light moves and stunts. It was so weird.. It got much better a while after we got into the dance floor ourselves and later on in the night, it got too PACKED. We went up to the podium to dance because there were random weird guys surrounding us and the podium was the safest spot (haha). I really didn't wanna come down because it would mean fighting space with the crowd and I honestly don't like crowds cos I suffer from minor claustrophobia. Not many people know that about me but they just know that I complain alot when there are too many people around me.

I get that sometimes too when I'm stuck in a lift with too many people, like I find it hard to breathe. And when it comes to sleeping, I have to sleep at a corner and face the wall to sleep. I can never sleep in between two people because I will get up and rather sleep on the couch or on the floor.

Coming back to the topic of clubbing, guess it was a fun night out. A rarity since we're all so busy these days anyway.

Some guy got so drunk that he concussed on the floor and everyone were stepping OVER his body. An ambulance was called for him and his shoes were lying 5 meters from where he was. Corinne wanted to be a kind soul and return him his shoes but there could probably be puke on it so we refused to let her. haha.

Visiting the TCM tomorrow and hopefully getting some positive feedback.

I'm also thinking of purchasing a new Nikon lens. 50mm AF-S 1.8G. Shall settle for that since the 1.4G is so friggin expensive! ): Courts is selling the lens at $230. I honestly do not know if this is considered as a good deal or not but the guy on Clubsnap is charging me $280 for the same pair of lens and it being second-hand.  Think I might just get it at $230.

Sakae Sushi & NYDC

I had dinner at Sakae Sushi quite a while ago with my lovelies. Not quite the fan of sushi because I do not like the idea of raw food, but I do like Jap Curry (ALOT) and the other stuff that are fried or cooked obviously.

Fried gyoza!

Raw sashimi on a gel ice pack

Soft shell crab on the platter

So, this is obviously my main protein and carbs course (:
LOVELOVELOVE jap curry

Ended off dinner with a mudpie at NYDC. NYDC mudpies are just reminiscent of secondary school days when Heeren used to have NYDC at the outdoor area back then.

Short post! (:

Cass' Birthday

We celebrated Cass' birthday a month ago. It was a good night of good barbeque food and crazy gambling. She had a 'Happy Colours' theme and anyone who didn't come in colors that make her happy has to do a forfeit!

There was a lot of meat to go around. We went really early so kinda stuffed ourselves waiting for the rest to arrive...

A really yummy mushroom and Darrell at the BBQ pit, looking very serious.

The boys. I don't have a picture of the girls cos either Ivan or Darrell is hogging them and not uploading them. I shouldn't be complaining because the amount of time I take to get down to uploading photos to FB is also terrible. Oops.

Josh came late and he brought a flashing colored light saber. It was super fun to play with!

It was a fun night, though slightly dramatic at the mahjong table. Should have taken a photo of the house. There were 3 mahjong tables for people to play at and a poker table. We always term her house as the 'gambling den' and for a good reason. I love mahjong!

Sorry if the photos are super hazy. My Samsung really sucks under low light conditions.
On another note, I went to dye my hair and give it a cut to trim it down in terms of thickness. Have been wanting to go do it so badly because my hair has been really unmanageable these few days and my black roots are so obvious it was disastrous. I'm only bothered by my roots when they become really bad. I dyed it in the same color and I'm starting to think I can't live without light-colored hair anymore.
