Back for New Year's

Images from dancingupastorm

I'm finally back from my 2 week holiday in Korea and Shanghai. Back with a really sore throat and flaky skin due to the dry and cold weather back in these two countries. I had the most Amazing Christmas this year and came home to find Christmas presents waiting for me in my room! I think I miss my holidaying life already.

GIFs

A few gifs we took a very long time ago at coffee bean one day. They all had the same pattern cos the both of them insisted it was the cutest. I just realised that in the last gif there is some scary lady with her hair all covering her face rising from the bottom. Gifbomb.

Crispy Chicken, Carbonara and Apple Crumble

This is the very reason why I feel like cooking up something every other day. My new oven is such a beauty. (okay, it is technically my Christmas present from my Mom this year) Thank You Mom. You cannot believe how longggg I have waited for this day. My previous cook top had an oven as well, but it hasn't been used for 17 years since I was a kid so it lost its convection abilities. Have waited for this day for ages!

Crispy Chicken with baby cherry tomatoes, roasted tomatoes, roasted potatoes, vegetables and hard-boiled eggs. So happy with how this turned out.

Penne Carbonara with Bacon and topped with Basil leaves

Invited the girls over and please look at Xw's hungry face haha. It was a very satisfying meal no less. We had lunch and caught The Parent Trap on Tv which I have probably watched about 30 odd times in my lifetime. Love the show!

We went down to buy some apples so that Co could make her wonderful apple crumble for us for dessert later on.

Before the crumble went into the oven! We had a few slices of the apple crumble when it was done while discussing our itinerary for the upcoming trip to Korea. (CAN'T WAIT)

My Christmas Wishlist
1. A Food Processor (I seriously need one of these)
2. Oven-proof Souffle Cups
3. Anything kitchen-related apart from cookbooks

I saw this the other day and it was so cute but so expensive too! My mom refused to get it for me ): It was a heart-shaped serving bowl which came with a heart-shaped wooden spoon! How adorable is that please. It was about $50+ though. Very pricey.

They had serving bowls in other designs too! Including a star-shaped one, a chicken one and a cat and rabbit one! I want them all! Lusting over your dream kitchen is seriously a far-fetched idea.

For supper that night, I made a bacon cheese sandwich with two of the remaining strips of bacon. It was such a heavenly treat at 11pm.

Yum! and till next time (:

The White Rabbit

Corinne and I had a girlfriend date last Friday at The White Rabbit. It seemed almost too appropriate and girly, the two of us dining at the cosy church-turned-restaurant and since we've never been there before. I really like the atmosphere of the place somehow. It wasn't very quiet but it still seemed pretty serene in a way. Must be the lighting.

I was too lazy to bring my Nikon out of the car so most of the photos you see here are from Corinne's Canon after my itchy fingers decided to do some slight editing.

I like the fact that they serve you bread before your meal begins whilst you're waiting for your food. I used to like that alot about Cedele since they had their own bread bar but I think they actually charge for the bread serving now, which I was very disappointed to find out during my last visit there.

Here's Co and I with our food.

Co ordered the : Stuffed Boneless Quail
stuffed with foie gras, mushroom duxelle, roasted asparagus and morel sauce
$38

The meat was really tender and the foie gras wasn't too overpowering. I have not tried quail before and I think this quail was cooked really nicely.

I ordered the : 48-hour Braised Short Ribs
wrapped in bacon and topped with carrots, sauce bourguignon on a layer of pomme puree
$36

I loved the slightly charred taste of the pork because it was such a rich flavorful kick to your taste buds. Bringing J back to have this some time since he's a big fan of pork. I literally swiped off every last bit of it from my plate. Yum.

After we had dinner, we went to the back in the hopes of taking some pictures but it was so dark and we got attacked by ants! Felt so squirmish after that.

We headed down to Ben and Jerry's for some live music and some ice-cream.

Ended up crashing Enrique's place watching a Korean channel and an episode of New Girl because Co refused to go catch a 1am movie saying she'll freeze inside the cinema haha. It was a great girls' night out! (:

New Year's Eve Movie

I caught New Year's Eve with the girls just now and I love the movie. Honestly, nothing can quite beat Love Actually since it was technically the 'first' of such movies to come about where random people have intertwining stories to tell on a particular day. This one is about New Year's Eve.

I cried like a pathetic baby during the movie and I blame it on the webcam scene. *Spoiler alert* Okay, it sucks because well, my bf is technically not here so it was like, DANG do you have to put that in the story! I'm gonna cry! hahaha. Actually the 3 of us cried like pathetic children too no less. We came out of the movie comparing makeup smudges. Oh man.

But with that said, this movie is definitely for keeps on the holiday movie-list. (:

 Christmas lights along Orchard Road

Went on a Tuesday night to KBox. They had some special Tuesday deal where you can sing for 3 hours and it costs $11.90 nett. Inclusive of 1 drink and snacks. I guess 3 hours was a pretty good time frame for us since we ran out of voices after 2 odd hours.

This is what happens when you park your car in the open air carpark right opposite Cineleisure. My car was splatted with birdshit EVERYWHERE. It was very Very bad. I had to go for a car wash before drying home if not my mom will definitely scream at me. Never ever gonna park at that car-park again. I'll rather pay for Cine's parking than to park there and go for a car wash. About a dollar cheaper too haha.

The car wash was such a refreshing experience! I mean, I haven't gone for a car wash in ages. The indian man who was cleaning my car didn't look too happy when he saw the state my car was in. That's Kel's BMW in front getting a car wash as well. I paid $7 for the car wash, more expensive than parking at Cine's basement. Bottomline is to always park indoors.

Harris at Jurong Point was having a clearance sale last weekend and here's my loot for the day! My mom got some books as well but I am extremely happy with my buy! Super alot of recipes in them that I can follow :D

I found out today that I'm late in paying for my Citibank fees. Hope the late fee charge interest rate isn't crazy high. If there's time, I'm gonna get a hair cut tomorrow as well. Hair's getting very unmanageable!

Overeasy & Loola's

We celebrated Jan's birthday at Overeasy last week. I went there after catching Breaking Dawn at Great World and having a nice hot bowl of Bak Kut Teh before heading over to One Fullerton. Breaking Dawn was very very cheesy. As cheesy as the picture of the Mac and Cheese I have below haha. It's those kind of 'Harry Potter series' where you just have to watch for the sake of watching it.

Met the girls at Overeasy later on.

I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the 'Good Old-Fashioned Mac & Cheese' $12

The Triple-Decker Super Stacked Club Sandwich
with grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato & mayo
$16

Spicy Linguini with Fresh Chili and Garlic
($6 for additional Prawns or Chicken)
$16 + $6

Took some pretty photos along the bridge to get to Esplanade

Esplanade's Igloo looking like thing

We went to loola's by awfully chocolate for some coffee and desserts. It is one of their newest restaurants specializing in "breakfast, braise and breads". They have more pastry options than dessert options that's for sure.

Peanut butter brownie with Vanilla Ice-cream

Chocolate Souffle

Ordered a cup of cappucino. I'm in love with coffee I swear.
