Sydney | Trio Cafe at Bondi Beach, Surry Hills Vintage Shopping & Grill'd

SYDNEY DAY 3

Day 3 of my Sydney escape was spent at Bondi. We went to Bondi Junction in the morning. Managed to get my spectacles fixed at some optician across the bus stop before doing some shopping here:

I FINALLY GOT MY INGLOT PALETTE! <3

Okay, I honestly spent a lot of time testing the colors in front of the counter. The sales girl was so excited to see me so I asked her why was she so ecstatic! haha. Considering it's pretty early in the morning... She said she hasn't had a serious buyer since ages ago. How can it be! It's Inglot for god's sake! How can anyone not love Inglot? (I really wanna buy the whole shop back) I got a trio palette and the girl gave me 2 lip samples and a sample of face primer. How nice of her (:

Anyway, I do think that Inglot sells much cheaper in the U.S that's for sure and they also have an outlet in JB (if you're curious to know) Not sure about the color range there though. I'm so happy! I got 2 double shine colors and a rainbow color (: Can't wait to use them for a night out. The double shine colors are mega pretty. They are basically a matte base with slight sparkle in them. Perfect for girls who hate crazily shimmery eyeshadows that cause fallouts everywhere.

We took a bus down to Bondi Beach itself and had Brunch at Trio Cafe.

Trio Cafe is a small cafe facing the beach. It is very unpretentious and it has an open bar with an open concept kitchen. The place looks so cheery and happy with their red and yellow walls.

Mint infused water in a jug

I really like this cappuccino loads. Must be the presentation of it (sucker for that) or the thick chocolate powder dusted on it. It has the right consistency of milk in it and the taste was great. I like my coffees with milk cos I prefer them with a slight sweet tinge rather than full on bitterness. Yeah, I know. Coffee addicts will probably condemn me for it lol.

Shakshouka (Middle Eastern Breakfast) $19
Two eggs poached in a smoked tomato ragout served in a pan with Turkish bread and hummus
vegetarian; gluten free

Ivan ordered the eggs and I tried a spoonful of it. It was good and the eggs couldn't have been poached any better. The shakshouka tomato ragout had a very smoky taste to it while teasing your sour taste buds a little. The shakshouka was sold in bottles as well and you could buy it for $9 a bottle if I'm not wrong. (means you could bring it home and prepare it with your eggs at home as well!)

Mango and Lime Buttermilk Pancakes $18.50
served with strawberries, lemon curd and double cream

I got the buttermilk pancakes as Ivan highly recommended it. (He had it with his cousin the other time he was at the cafe) The pancakes were nothing like pancakes I've ever tried before. They were crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. I don't know how they prepared it but it was pretty genius I must say. It definitely paired very nicely with the mango and lime puree but honestly, I was more interested in dunking my pancakes in the double cream and maple syrup :D

They are ginormous pancakes! I had a hard time trying to finish it even though it was so tasty. Either that or I'm more accustomed to having savoury stuff for Brunch.

Would you look at that!!!
Pancakes with cream and maple syrup are honestly the best combinations in the world.

They had a really small kitchen and I'm quite impressed at how tidy it was.

A father and son sitting opposite us. I find it so cute that the son is grinding pepper for his dad's Eggs Benedicts. I also really wanted to have their Eggs Benedict! They looked pretty good. You could have it with triple smoked ham, florentine or bacon at $15 and with smoked salmon at $17.50.

Cute place selling churros but we were too full after Brunch to have any

Went to take a stroll at Bondi Beach and to take some photos.

Imagine having a house overlooking the sea. How amazing is that!

It was winter, so needless to say, the beach was pretty much empty except for some really crazy people surfing in the waters. The water is probably freezing cold and how in the world do they get the guts to go into the water? I do not comprehend haha

Crazy guy running on the beach only in his swimming trunks! I am sorry to say this but he must be doubly mad because he is bald! No hair to protect himself against the cold! There we were, covering ourselves in layers of clothing and he's running. in. the. cold. -_-

Honestly, I think I do pretty well with cold weather. I usually get very afraid of being cold in Singapore because of the aircon blasting and all that so I shiver very easily. But somehow, I was able to survive in a thin-material top with my really thin knitwear thrown on as well. It was honestly extremely windy that day but I felt pretty alright. Very weird. It was like that in Korea/Shanghai as well. I could step out into the cold wearing just a jumper and jeans sometimes and feel ok. WEIRD.

Really cute graffitis along the beach

Awesome sunlight and weather that day

I saw a surfer running towards us so I randomly / out-of-the-blue / berserkly asked the surfer if he wanted to take a photo with me and he said OK lol. Not everyday that you get to take a photo with a surfer ok!

I brought the leather jacket out for nothing haha. Okay, I did throw it on at night when the temperature dropped below 10degreeC I think.

I think this particular photo is quite genius. It has a lone surfboard with the surfers and crashing waves on the left hand side of the photo whilst a sign saying 'Dangerous' on the right with no water activities at all.

We went to walk around at some of the Bondi shops. They had a lot of bookstore cafes where books were going really cheap at the cafe where they sell coffee too. A lot of pretty decoration/homeware things around. I walked into this baby toy shop selling stuffed toys and cute little toys and bought a wind-up bunny toy! It is no regular wind-up bunny! Will probably take a video of it and post some time soon (:

Took a bus back to the town area so that I could scour through the entire Surry Hills area to do some Vintage shopping. Omg they had SO MANY vintage shops there. I did some major shopping that day. Below are just some collages of the shops we took along the way. Had to brisk walk throughout the entire street as the shops were about to close (most close at 5pm!)

Some shops were opened till pretty late though like 7-ish because it was a Thursday and Thursdays are somehow meant to be late-night days. Like, people club on Thursdays too because shops open late on Fridays? I really don't understand how that works because shops already open at 11pm and close at 5pm on a regular day basis. So if they open late, means they open at 1pm and close at 5pm??

We walked into a shop selling really pretty wallpaper and you could use some of the fabrics and turn them into cushion covers as well. Wanted to grab a coffee or light snack at fouratefive but they were already closed when we got there!! (we got there at about 4pm?)

Shop selling knick-knacks.

Pretty clouds

I got the Cloud chalkboard memo cos I thought it was so adorable (:

I got 2 vintage tops at a steal from Strawberry Fields Vintage. Also got a navy/purplish knit sweater from them. The stitching on the sweater is CRAZY. I mean, it's vintage so whoever did the knit previously was a genius because the stitching and design of it was so simple yet impeccable.

A boutique store with toys surrounding their lamps

Look at those cowboy boots!

Fouratefive which I didn't get the opportunity to visit. They have a great selection of brunch items, sandwiches and burgers. Their pulled pork on grilled sourdough w/ fresh cucumber, aioli, apple & tomato chutney & rocket $13 sounds delish!

Another restaurant which I didn't get to try was The Winery. It was in a back alley tucked away behind a garden. The ambience was great there at night with christmas lighting and it just felt very festive. However, it was really crowded when we were there on the first day so they didn't had seats for dinner dining. You could be seated separately if you just wanted to have some drinks and chill by the pub or outdoors where heaters were provided.

We decided to settle for a fast food joint in the end cos we've been walking for very longgg and were hungry and tired. This is one of their fast food outlets there called Grill'd. They serve mainly burgers and their burgers were huge!

The interior of their outlet. They have many outlets all over Australia but we went to the one nearest to Surry Hill I guess. Have no clue of my bearings cos I had a helpful navigator lol. I don't know if I feel sad or thankful for not knowing my way around Sydney at all cos I'm usually the one navigating during trips. Helps me to kinda understand the place better.

The Almighty Burger | 3370KJ | $13.50
Grilled grass fed lean beef, tasty cheese, crispy trim bacon, free range egg, a couple of slices of beetroot with salad, relish & herbed mayo.

Ivan had the Almighty burger and you can see him licking his fingers in delight in the background. The description seriously sounds crazy tempting but yeah, I can't take beef. (I know, I know, I'm missing out on the greater things in life lol) I found it very hilarious that the menu also stated that an average adult daily energy intake is 8700 KJ beside the description of the burger. It's almost as if they were saying, "Go ahead! Have the burger! It's okay that you're devouring 3370KJ worth of food!

Chicken Licken | 1760KJ | $7.50
Grilled chicken breast & herbed mayo - add tasty cheese + $1

I got the Chicken Licken which was a snack burger. Wasn't feeling really hungry and I was pretty weary about the food portions in Sydney by then so I decided to go easy on myself and have the snack burger. Honestly think that my metabolism rate is plummeting down like crazy. Anyways, it was really good but I guess with bacon, roasted peppers, free range eggs and all the bombastic things you see in the other normal chicken burgers, it would be absolutely fantastic.

This was a gay dude in some shop we passed by. He and this other lady was so funny and we were chatting with them for a really long time while I tried on dresses and tried making up my mind which dress to buy. (Ended up buying both haha) He was so funny that I decided to take a photo with him for memory's sake.

Buskers belting out awesome tunes with great voices. Wish I could listen to such buskers everyday.

Sorry this post took so long to go up.
Hopefully the next will be quicker than this!

Next up: Sydney | Museum of Contemporary Art, Manly Beach, Jellyfish Cafe & Churras Brazilian Barbecue

Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. I’ll give you a link on your web blog. I recently came to know about http://toysuae.com/, their Baby Toy Shop are very effective.
