Ssikkek Korea BBQ Buffet

Last Saturday, the dancers had a BBQ gathering. The initial plan was to book a BBQ pit but all of the pits available to us on that particular day were booked up, hence deciding to make do with a korean grill bbq buffet instead. Was busy in the morning at ITE Bishan...

These are the chicken wings that EVERYONE on the circuit park team loves. YUM! You practically have to grab your hands on a few of these before they all run out in the matter of minutes.

Had some spare time to kill before dinner so I met up with Xw in town to hunt for presents for her 'kids' also known as students. I have never seen someone so happy buying cute erasers for her students. She is seriously in teacher mode already and so glad to see her work bringing her so much joy. (: We went to FEP so that she could get her french manicure done. She even did some shopping post-manicure! I had to end up handling her wallet and the taking out of her cards to prevent her from spoiling her nails. Very bimbotic moments haha.

Dinner was at a Korean BBQ buffet restaurant located right opposite Novena Square. The place was packed to the brim with people and we had to sit outside to bbq instead.

I believe the place was run by a Korean family and there were many koreans dining at the restaurant that night. There were many Korean students helping out with the constant changing of the aluminium sheets. Iced water came in bottles that were stacked and stored in a fridge near the entrance. Overall, they seem very experienced in handling big crowds of people coming to dine on a Saturday night.

Xw, wearing the white dress I bought for her as a birthday gift last year (:

There were quite a few pork and beef choices to choose from and I think there was only 1 choice of chicken. The chicken was delicious though! Oh and their prawns were very fresh and tasted great (:

The meat tasted awesome and it was quite a good variety. The only down-side about the bbq experience was it being very oily because the oil was just lingering in the air and had to latch on to the cutlery that we were using and our clothes. I guess the yummy authentic korean food made up for that.

Didn't take any more photos because I didn't want my Nikon to be coated in oil!

For the price of $24 per person for a BBQ Buffet dinner on a Saturday night, this place was definitely value for money. Definitely do reservations on a weekend night as it tends to get pretty crowded.

We headed to a nearby pub located at the basement of United Square. United Square brings back memories for me as I used to study at their Starbucks during JC days.

It was a cosy little pub. They had an alfresco area but we sat inside as it was air-conditioned. They also had a live band duo which wasn't that great. :/

This pub stocks various types of beers from all over the world. I was disappointed that Timmermans wasn't on their menu but the owner actually told me they have them stocked! I decided to forego it and be adventurous and try something else instead. Bad choice though...

I got myself a Floris Mango, a typically cheap beer from Belgium. It was too sweet for my liking and the taste completely overpowered the beer content.

It was a pity Char couldn't join us for BBQ prior but she came for drinks after dinner. (:

I like nights where we just sit, listen to music, chit chat and drink beer.
